New at Disney 2010/2011
As ever Disney never sits back and lets things get stale so once more they are planning new events and attractions.
In early 2011 there will be a New Safari Experience at Animal Kingdom. The Wild Africa Trek will take small groups of guest on guided excursions that include a bushwalk through unexplored areas of the forest where they will see many species of wildlife. You will also go overland in customised vehicles through an animal-filled savanna. You go over a rickety footbridge above a river full of crocodiles as well as close up encounters with lots of other animals.
Over at Epcot there is an expansion of the Italy and Mexico Pavilions as part of their New Dining Experiences. In Italy, an authentic Neapolitan pizzeria called Via Napoli has already opened. This will be run by the same group that already run Tutto Italia restaurant. It is a 300-seat pizzeria with wood-burning ovens named for volcanoes in Italy. Indoor and outdoor dining is available
Also now open the Mexico pavilion welcomes guests to La Hacienda and La Cantina de San Angel; both restaurants are under one roof. La Hacienda is a 250-seat restaurant serving romantic dinners beside World Showcase Lagoon while La Cantina is a 150-seat quick-service restaurant serving both lunch and dinner. We have yet to eat at Mexico but my parents intend to try La Hacienda on their next trip to the villa.
Late in 2010 “Disney Channel Rocks! ” comes to Hollywood Studios. This is a live rock-concert-style with hit songs from popular Disney Channel Original Movies. You can hear music from High School Musical” series, “Camp Rock” and “StarStruck”. This will be the same format as “High School Musical Year 3” which it will replace.
In 2011 the New Star Tours Adventures Are Out of This World comes to Hollywood Studios. This will take guests to Coruscant, Tatooine and other destinations in the “Star Wars” galaxy. This will include 3D for the first time.
Rapunzel makes a debut at Magic Kingdom late 2010. Rapunzel, along with Flynn Ryder from the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures film “Tangled, ” will begin greeting guests of all ages in a new interactive “play and greet” area in Fairytale Garden. The movie itself opens late November in cinemas.
In 2011 the relaunched ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort will welcome the addition of the new Hewlett-Packard Photo Creation Center inside the renamed HP Field House. At this centre everyone including athletes, coaches and fans can create and design an assortment of uniquely customized posters, photo albums, and materials to commemorate their sports experience. I think this is likely to be very popular with all their visitors.
