Things you might miss at Magic Kingdom
There is so much do and see in Magic Kingdom there are many thing that you may overlook. I am going to try to list a few things here for you to look out for.
You have to be patient but if you want to prove to your little ones that Fairies really do exist go to Tinker Bell’s Treasures. Here you can spot Miss Bell flitting among the merchandise although it sometimes takes a few minutes to find her.
Several times each day children have a chance to become King or Queen for the Day at the Sword in the Stone ceremony, held right next to Cinderella' s Golden Carrousel. Merlin challenges guests to pull the magical Excalibur from the stone, and then presents the strongest lad or lass with a regal crown, cape and proclamation. You may have to wait to see this but as well as the children loving it, it is a great photo opportunity.
If you do not want to ride on It' s a Small World but still enjoy the spectacle you can get a bird' s-eye view of the attraction' s interior when you eat lunch in Pinocchio' s Village Haus. It is great fun sit there and peer down, watching the boats load and unload.
Be sure not to miss one of my favourites in Tomorrowland the Talking Trash Cans. Go to Cosmic Ray' s Starlight Cafe, to the big dining area where the lounge lizard Sonny Eclipse performs his ' live' act. On the left-hand wall, as you enter the room from the service counters, are some trash cans. Just put some litter in and listen. These are not to be confused with PUSH, the walking, talking trash can who delights unsuspecting guests several times a day while roaming around Tomorrowland. If you cannot find him ask a Cast Member when and where PUSH will be making his appearance.
We always have a ride on Tomorrowland Transit Authority. This gentle10-minute ride not only offers a bird' s-eye view of the futuristic landscape, it lets you peer into the interior of some of the land' s most popular attractions, like Buzz Lightyear' s Space Ranger Spin and Space Mountain. Look out for the slow-moving escalator that takes you up to the trains, it is a really peaceful way to spend a few minutes waiting for a FastPass window to open.
If you do not want to ride on Space Mountain, you can wait next door in the Tomorrowland Light & Power Company game arcade whilst other members of your family have their ride. You can also stop at the Kodak booth where you can make customized stickers (about $4). If you fancy a rest take a stroll around the side of the building along the shady path. You will come upon a circle of private benches that afford you an excellent view of the WDW Railroad as it circles the Magic Kingdom.
If you are in Tomorrowland just before the fireworks this is the best location for spotting Tinker Bell as she makes her nightly flight from the Castle. Ask a Cast Member to recommend a good viewing spot.
If you go to Tom Sawyer Island try to find one of the paintbrushes Tom and Huck left behind. If you do find one take it to a Cast Member for a special prize, maybe even a ' go to the front of the queue' pass for a major attraction!
As you approach the Jungle Cruise (entering from Main Street), do not rush past the giant Tiki God statues, next to Bwana Bob' s. If you listen carefully, you will hear the sounds of distant drums, and if you' re not careful where you step, the angry gods will spit at you!
When you got to Minnie’s house in Toontown fair the microwave pops a bowl of popcorn when you turn it on! Turn the dials on the stove, which cause the coffee pot to perk and the utensils hanging above the stove to dance in time to music. You can also listen in on Minnie' s answering machine messages.
Lastly in Liberty Square on the side of the Hall of Presidents' building, across from the Liberty Bell, you will see two old-fashioned rocking chairs on a small brick porch. These are not just props; you really can rock away a few minutes (or even hours) from this comfy spot. Go to Sleepy Hollow for some caramel corn or an ice cream sandwich, and bring your treats back to the chairs to enjoy as you people-watch from this spot.
Enjoy these overlooked attractions, we always do.
