Mannys Original Chophouse
What a great place! Manny’s maybe off the beaten track but it’s definitely worth the effort. Some of our friends recommended Manny’s to us on our last visit but we were very busy then and didn’t get around to it. After our visit this time we won’t make the same mistake again.
Manny’s Original Chophouse is very popular with both out of towners and locals at any time of the year but they don’t take conventional bookings. They do operate “call ahead seating”, this means that you call when you are on your way to the restaurant and if they have a wait list they’ll put you on it and when you arrive they’ll let you know how far along the list you are. We were advised to go early, during midweek so thought we’d go about 4. 30 and there were loads of cars in the car park already but we had no trouble getting a table for five.
Our waiter, Dave was friendly, fast and funny. Firstly he brought over some hot rolls and cinnamon butter, the big surprise was the sweetness of the butter, it’s also gorgeous and you just can’t help yourself. Dave also brought the endless salad bowl, which is mixed at your table with their homemade ranch dressing.
We ordered three starters between the five of us, coconut shrimp, cheesy bacon loaded fries and onion rings. The portions are huge and although everything we ordered was great, in retrospect this was just too much food, as with the rolls and cinnamon butter and the salad they bring to everyone we should have gone straight for the entrees.
The entrees we had were prime rib for me, which was succulent and done to a tee. Two of our girls ordered the streak pieces, which went down really well. Our youngest had a cheeseburger and fries and my husband had the 12oz steak and stuffed grouper. Well, I say he had the steak but he only had one bite and could eat no more. The stuffed grouper was a big hit. I think we all had a bite and there was still more than enough to fill him up.
As we had only eaten around half of our entrees we asked Dave for some cartons so we could take the rest home. We left well fed, very happy with the final bill and with loads of food if we felt peckish later. Initially I was the one that was keen to go to, but Manny’s is now a hot favourite with all the family and will definitely be on the list next time we’re over. Have a look at their website for directions from your villa.
