Mannys Chop House on HWY 27
his trip to sunny Florida we decided that we would try and eat out at a few different places maybe try some of the more local eateries when I say local I mean where the locals eat not where they are located !
Tonight was to be our first visit to Manny’s chop house a much mentioned food establishment by fellow Brits, and had some good recommendations on the forums.
After finding directions on the internet we set off down the highway 27, and Mannys is located approximately 20 miles south of the 192 turn off the US 27
After arriving at our destination our initial reaction was that it very much like all other Florida diner restaurants except there were quite a few cars in the car park
Once inside you could see why there were so many cars parked as it was heaving with diners, we asked for a table for 3 and were told it would be a 20 minute wait, 10 minutes later we were called and taken to our table. The restaurant was not as well decorated and somewhat basic compared to places such as TGI Fridays, but on a plus side it was clean and plenty of Floridians were eating there, which is always a good sign.
The girl seating us had a neat trick of writing our servers name upside down on the paper table cloth; she was very friendly and looked after us well.
Our orders were taken and some nice fresh warm rolls arrived with our beers, next came a salad in a large bowl which our server mixed for us. This was a huge salad and I have to say one of the best we have had in Florida, which is really saying something as Florida salads are so much better than the ones we get at home.
Next came our main course and I had ordered the biggest steak on the menu and I was not disappointed it was superb and cooked just right. I was given the choice of fries or mash and I am glad I chose the mash as it was so much better than the cardboard fries that they serve everywhere in Florida. My wife had the lamb chops; they were perfectly cooked and very tasty.
All in all the food was great with good size portions and better still, reasonably priced for good wholesome food. They even have nights where ths kids eat free! We will be back again for another feast next time we visit Florida.
