Football…..can’t live without it?
With the football season once again upon us in the United Kingdom, how many of you committed football supporters can live without your usual fix of passion and excitement associated with watching your team play on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, even when the alternative is enjoying a fun packed and sun drenched two week family holiday in the company of Mickey Mouse and his numerous friends plus the many other attractions that this wonderful resort destination has to offer.
Well for those of you who just have to follow your team’s fortunes come hell or high water, then help is most definitely at hand.
Dotted around the Central Orlando region there is a well known chain of sports bars called Beef O’ Brady’s who offer top sports coverage, a results service and more importantly carry live premiership matches every weekend (and midweek, fixtures permitting) together with the top FA Cup ties from January onwards. Admission is usually between $5 and $10 a head and you can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome from their knowledgeable staff…….so come along and soak up the atmosphere.
Despite being termed ‘sports bars’ don’t be put off, because these establishments are very much geared to provide family entertainment and also serve a comprehensive range of food and beverages to suit all tastes. With most matches kicking off around 8.00am or 11am local time (that’s 1.00pm or 4.00pm in the UK) what better way to start the day than with a traditional American breakfast of eggs, bacon and pancakes with maple syrup before settling down to ninety minutes of tension packed action.
The nearest Beef O’Brady’s to Walt Disney World is situated on the US192 at Vista Del Lago on the westbound side of the highway about a mile or so from the US27 intersection. As well as a couple of large screen televisions they have also installed banks of smaller sets at strategic points around the seating areas which means that everyone is guaranteed an uninterrupted view.
And, of course, the matches are over at around lunchtime. So, irrespective of whether your team has won, lost or drawn there is still plenty of time left in the day to hit the theme parks, take a dip in the pool, or do whatever you enjoy the most…..at least you won’t be frantically trying to phone or text home to the UK to find out the final score!!
