Eating at Your Villa
If you decide to stay at a villa in Orlando you will be amazed at the advantages it has over staying in a hotel no matter how nice the latter is.
One of the advantages is being able to eat and/or cook whatever you want whenever you want and this we really enjoy.
Most villa kitchens are very well equipped - we have an oversized oven and hob, American sized fridge with ice maker, microwave, toaster, coffee machine and juicer. You will find a large array of eating and cooking utensils in all kitchens.
On the first evening or the following morning after our arrival we head to Publix to stock up on food and drinks. We buy a good selection of fruit and salads plenty of cheese, pasta, milk, bread, juices and cereals. Publix usually have weekly offers of their meat and fish and you can find these in their own magazine at the front of the store. They do a great selection of ice cream and we also buy plenty of frozen lollipops for the girls to have when they come out of the pool into the heat. They have a vast choice of pizzas and we always buy some as they are very useful whether as a lunchtime snack or when we get back from the Parks and someone in our party is still hungry. Another freezer item that we love are TGI Fridays snacks such as wings or mozzarella sticks and they are also great stand bys.
We often have breakfast in our villa more a continental style than an English one. We leave lots of cereal out for people to help themselves and my Dad usually pops up to Publix (it is only a mile away) and gets freshly baked bagels. With these we have an assortment of cold meat, cheeses, boiled eggs and tomatoes. Sometimes breakfast can go on for a couple of hours with the late risers but with these foods everyone can help themselves.
If we stay at the villa during the day we have a selection of cheeses, pasta, pizza, Friday’s snacks and lots of salad and fruit. Ice cream is usually our dessert and there are also crisps and dips to snack on.
Should we decide to eat dinner at the villa we either cook something simple like steak, salad and baked potatoes or have a take way delivered form one of the many restaurants nearby who provides this service. All this washed down with beer and wine and no one has to worry about driving home afterwards.
