Carrabba’s – Italian Grill, Orlando
Our local favorite restaurant at home is a lively Italian, which has been run by the local Mafia (only joking) for years where their fish special are great and their Lasagna is billed “just like mamma used to make”, and best of all they serve Peroni beer.
So image our delight, at finding Carrabba’s in Orlando along Highway 192 near Splendid China. Which also serve’s Lasagna “just liked mamma used to make” and even better they stock Peroni beer.
We have eaten here twice before and ordered a take away, which we did the first time as we had not booked a table and the restaurant was very busy, unless you wish to eat early I would recommend that you book a table to avoid disappointment.
We have ordered from all selection of their menu (with one exception) and can recommend everything, however our favorite is their Chicken Marsala where they roast a chicken breast which comes topped with mushrooms, prosciutto and a wine sauce, and their brilliant garlic mash. Would normally never order mash in a restaurant, as I would expect either Smash or potatoes that have been boiled for so long they are just a paste and starchy but not here really lovely and creamy.
They also have a great Bambini menu which includes beverages and is very reasonable.
The exception so far as regards their menu, has been their pudding’s, we have been so full after dinner that a pudding has been a course to far, however when we are next there my wife is deliberately missing the starter to leave room for desert, so an update to follow.
However the real beauty of this restaurant is the price with a main course costing as little $9 dollars and a maximum of twenty dollars for a fillet steak, along with the exchange rate pushing closer to two dollars this is a great night for dinner without breaking the bank.
Their web-site is www.carrabbas.com where you can find their telephone number and their full menu along with a great service they offer a car-side carry out.
There is another thing that our restaurant in the UK and Carrabba’s have in common, or is it all Italian’s that they insisted upon everyone singing to happy birthday to the patrons who are celebrating their big day, as both restaurants get the waiters to sing a rousing version of Happy Birthday. Through the waiters at Carrabba’s go one better and sing in Italian.
My next task when visiting Orlando will be to find a great restaurant which serves either Cobra or Kingfisher beer and a lovely curry as well.
