Bob Evans Restaurant
Whilst in Orlando on our most recent holiday we found a super restaurant we had not been to before called simply “Bob Evans”.
The one we visited several times was on US27 near to the intersection with the Interstate 4.
Whilst not very prepossessing on the outside, when we ventured in we were very impressed with the cleanliness and appeal of the restaurant and the friendliness of the staff.
You enter through a little shop which sells little ornaments, some toys, candy, home made sauces etc… and you are then seated and introduced to your server.
The menu is delicious! All the food is freshly cooked to order, and there are lots of alternatives to the usual steak, burger and fries. My favourite was the fresh chicken pot pie which was served with a lovely bowl full of fresh salad which you could have plain or with a choice of dressings. We also tried the meatloaf, pot roast sandwich, steak monteray and fisherman’s dinner all of which we could not fault! You can mix and match with the side orders such as fresh garden vegetables (scrumptious!), an array of “single” vegetables such as carrots, broccoli, sweet corn etc… and several different potato dishes.
Children are well catered for as well with their own separate menu which comes with the obligatory fun booklet and pictures to colour. They can choose between macaroni cheese, mini cheeseburgers, grilled cheese sandwiches which come with a side order of fresh fruit, grilled chicken strips, fried chicken strips and a roast turkey dinner all again which come with a choice of side dish.
We also tried their breakfast for a change one day which again are lovely but absolutely enormous! They have a choice between huge omelettes, an assortment of cooked breakfasts with bacon, sausage etc.. and my favourite was the strawberry filled crepe with a whipped topping – totally naughty but worth every calorie!
They also do an over 55 menu for the senior members of your family which is the same as the ordinary menu but in smaller portions.
For dessert they offer a range of crepes, ice cream sundaes, home made pies such as Coconut Cream pie, Strawberry Supreme pie, Banana Cream pie, Country Apple pie and for all chocolate lovers they make a fabulous Peanut Butter pie which is a delicious chocolate cake with a mousse filling and which they serve warm with hot chocolate fudge sauce…. Mmmmmm….
They also offer a carry out menu which includes most of the meals on their restaurant menu. Simply telephone them and place your order and then pick it up a short while late, freshly made and piping hot!
We will certainly be visiting them again on our next holiday!
