If you fancy a day off from the Theme Parks, an evening stroll, or would like to dine somewhere different go to Disney's Boardwalk. This is located off Buena Vista Drive near Epcot and the Swan and Dolphin Hotels:
Disney's Boardwalk

Lake Buena Vista
The complex was designed by architect Robert Stein and opened in 1996. He saw it as a “village across the water” where weary tourists could come to relax. It is modelled on early US summer vacations at seaside places.
We visited one of the Boardwalks popular restaurants, The Flying Fish which has a great seafood menu. There is an “ on stage” kitchen area and you must try the “Peeky Toe” crab cakes, they are delicious. This restaurant gets busy but you can phone for priority seating.
At the Big River Grille and Brewing works you can see its own beer being brewed. You can enjoy outdoor dining on the Boardwalk and there is a Jungle Club kids menu.
Mediterranean food is the speciality of Spoodles Restaurant and there is plenty of choice for anyone wanting to try something different. You can also order from the Tapas menu. For those who haven’t tried Tapas order lots of different dishes, they come in small dishes and are great to share amongst several people. Mom tried these for the first time last year and has become a Tapas fan.
The men in our family love the ESPN Club. It has a 100 televisions. The menu includes pasta, sandwiches, salads and hamburgers. It is great for sports fans wanting to watch one or lots of different sports – there are even televisions in the restrooms! There is also a bar snacks section where the portions are more than sufficient.
If you are in the Boardwalk in the morning you can grab a coffee and a bun from the Boardwalk Bakery and if you feel really energetic you can rent a surrey bike!
If you just want to stroll visit the shops. Visit the Boardwalk Character Carnival featuring “ Housewares and Mousewares”! Here you will find adult golf and sports apparel plus Disney Merchandise for all ages.
The ESPN Club store provides a wide range of ESPN merchandise including team shirts and jerseys.
At the Screen Door General stores you can buy dry goods and groceries whilst if you are looking for beachwear you will find this at Thimble and Threads.
Evening entertainment is provided at Jelly Rolls where you can sing along with piano music from the duelling piano maestros. The Atlantic Dance hall comes alive after sunset with a DJ Dance party.
Do visit the Boardwalk you will certainly enjoy it.
