The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (11)
Headed along I4 to go to Islands of Adventure and experience the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Got ourselves parked in the Jaws area car park and wandered down to the park entrance. The crowds were not bad at all, probably because it was a bit chilly by local standards that day. We decided to head straight for Harry Potter as we feared we may have to queue for hours if everyone headed up there first. Our luck was in and to ride the Forbidden Journey only had a 30 minute wait. The walk once inside Hogwarts is great. We were really impressed with the talking pictures which really do seem to single you out. Then Dumbledore appears as a hologram in his office. Then the 3 main characters, Harry Ron and Hermione also appear then disappear under the invisibility cloak only to reappear a little later, very clever and life like. Progressing through to the actual ride we were filled with excitement. Once on it you really do feel that you are flying. You are attacked by all sorts of characters from the books, but of course Harry always pops up to save you. This ride is absolutely fantastic and just not to be missed. Don’t want to go into great detail as it may spoil it for you.
Leaving the Forbidden Journey we next ventured onto the Hippogriff coaster. This is a great coaster for all ages. It is a little faster than it looks from the ground but really not scary at all.
Then to the ‘Dragon Challenge’. Remember to leave any bags in the lockers provided before you walk up to the ride. There are actually two coasters which loop around with each other the ‘Chinese Fireball’ and the ‘Hungarian Horntail’. This is a very fast ride but fantastic fun, at times they are only 18inches apart I believe, it does seem they are closer when you are on one of them though.
The rides done we set about exploring Hogsmeade village. Looked at the various shops Zonko’s, which is full of jokey type things, Honeydukes which has all manner of sweets with some very strange names and then onto Ollivanders to check out the wands.
No trip to the world of Harry Potter would be complete without trying the ‘Butterbeer’. A very interesting drink indeed which needs to be experienced at least once or maybe twice, it is non alcoholic.
On to the ‘Three Broomsticks’ for something to eat. Not a bad menu at all.
Well that is our experience of the ‘Wizarding World of Harry Potter’ not to be missed and will certainly be visiting it again.
