The villa pool
One of the best things about renting a vacation villa is your own pool!
Just think, you arrive at your holiday destination, tired after a long journey, possibly jet lagged and no doubt just a little hot as you have not yet acclimatised to Florida' s temps. No need to check in, find your room and then trek through the hotel to find the pool area and find somewhere to park your belongings, simply grab your swimwear from the top of your suitcase ( remember to pack it last), grab a towel from the linen cupboard and head out to the pool!
First thing in the morning open the blinds and enjoy the sun glinting off the turquoise waters, take your early morning beverage outside and look forward to taking an early morning dip. In cooler months there is something particularly good about seeing the steam rise from the water as you roll back the pool cover knowing that you will be able to get straight in and not have to immerse yourself an inch at a time!
Returning from a heavy day at the parks there is nothing more relaxing than an evening / nighttime swim, the pool lights picking out the waters from the inky blackness that surrounds it. If you are lucky enough to have a pool deck which backs on to a lake or conservation area listen to the sounds of the wildlife at night it really is amazing. Do remember though, sounds carry at night so keep the noise low so as not to annoy the neighbours!
If you are staying home during the day the pool area will probably be the focal part of your plans. The majority of pools have comfortable pool loungers, table and chairs for dining al fresco (our absolute favourite past time) and pool toys/floats when you want to take the heat off. It' s a great way to relax between busy trips to the shops and the parks.
Just one or two things to be aware of;
Don' t try to disarm the pool alarms, it is against Florida law. I know they can be annoying sometimes but they may just save a life!
Don' t jump on to the pool cover without removing it! It will close around you and can result in drowning.
Don' t use glass or breakables in the pool area
Always BBQ outside the pool cage.
Skinny dipping is not allowed!
Just common sense really. Follow these few simple rules and have a great time!
