My first loop the loop ride - AeroSmith's Rock n Roller Coaster - Disney Hollywood Studios - April 2006
After many years I finally got to go on my first ever looped roller coaster. Being small can be good when I do gymnastics but it’s a thousand times bad when you’re waiting to be the right height to go on a ride. This week I finally made it! I went to Disney Hollywood Studios and went on Aerosmith’s Rock n Roller Coaster.
I felt very happy to be going on it until I saw the wait was 90 minutes! 90 minutes!! (It was Easter which can be busy for the best rides). However, Disney has a great Fast Pass system where you can put your ticket in a machine and get a ride later in the day. We did this and I had to wait yet again! Would I ever get on this ride?? My family and friends had done this ride but I still had to wait! We went and had some lunch, did the Muppets 3D show, which was funny, the Movie Ride and saw the Narnia exhibit which had a pretty set… And then we finally had the time on our Fast Pass.
We walked over to the roller coaster. My heart was beating faster than normal. They took our fast pass and I thought “This is it! My first looped ride coming up!”. You go indoors and there is a short queue through posters, records, and exhibits of record players from the 50’s up until the first DVD players. You’re then let in through some doors into a recording studio with instruments and Aerosmith rehearsing. Their manager says “You guys should be at the concert on the other side of town.” “The band says “You can’t leave these fans behind”. So the manager orders a limo – as super stretched limo for us, the fans. You’re then let through into an alley.
The alley is dark and you can smell grease. You see road works and limos getting ready to go. It’s dark and you can smell grease. After a short queue you get into a stretched limo car. I think there 12 rows, of two people, that make up each stretched super limo. You get in and pull the safety bars down – I sat down next to my sister right at the back! Now my heart is pumping fast and my head says “This is it!”
You move of just a short way but very fast. You can hear loud music and then a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and you shoot off. Amazing! It is so fast. Wow! Inside its dark with fluorescent colours and the music plays loud. There are road signs to see. I felt the first loop and the second was more like a corkscrew and you’re still going fast. Brilliant.
When it got to the end I felt like I wanted to go on it a million times but we only managed 3 rides this visit. It was really good and after all these years it was great to have finally rode. I can’t wait to go on it again and do my next looped ride.
