Cinderella’s Castle at the Magic Kingdom
Cinderella’s Castle has to be the most famous fantasy castle in the world! The imposing castle, with its towers and turrets can be seen from miles around as you approach Walt Disney’s famous Magic Kingdom in Orlando, in the centre of Florida. This is the heart of Walt’s first magical theme park, and holds dear in the heart of millions, young and old alike, and is so full of amazing features that it is little wonder why it is so loved.
Here are a few facts about the size and build of the castle. It stands 189 feet tall and
construction of the castle began in late 1969 taking 18 months to build and using 6 00 tons of steel framework. It was then covered in fibreglass, constructed to look like stone, with its towering spires amazing detail. There are carvings of the mice and other fine details; if you look carefully you will see all sorts of interesting details.
The castle contains an apartment originally built for the Disney family, and this has recently been featured as a prize and used by lucky families chosen by random and winning a night in the castle during the “Year of a million dreams ”promotion. The family who wins this is guaranteed Royal treatment by Disney. All that is needed is your overnight bag and Disney makes it a Dream to remember your whole life! They have a private photo session, and are escort into the castle. The family are given time to explore the suite and then take part in the parade. They then dine at Cinderella’s table and enjoy a VIP viewing of the Spectro Magic parade and wishes, the amazing firework display. The winners then have private access to the magic kingdom for two hours after the park closes…. what an amazing prize! ! ! !
There is a restaurant inside the castle”Cinderella’s Royal table” where you can dine with the Princesses, (every little girls dream come true I guess) but it does get busy so if you wish to dine there you can book a table by calling guest services.
On the ground floor of the castle are gift shops, just bursting with goodies, selling memorandum and trinkets, and in the entry corridor along the wall is a series of five 15 by 10 foot panels of the most beautiful tiled mosaic murals, telling the story of Cinderella. Take some time to study this mural as it is truly outstanding and full of detail.
Cinderella’s castle is one place that you must not miss during your trip to the Magic Kingdom.
