Wonder Works
One place that never fails to impress is Wonder Works interactive fun house. This spectacular venue appears to be an upside down mansion, which is worth a look at alone! This also makes a very good, albeit confusing, family photo spot.
When you enter, the façade continues in the main lobby as the room is also upside down, creating the impression that you are standing on the ceiling. When you enter into the fun house you have to walk across a revolving tunnel bridge which creates the illusion that the tunnel is spinning around in circle - a feeling you will never forget. This is intended to realign yourself with the building so you can enjoy more than one hundred hands-on activities.
Inside Wonder Works, you will find many floors of interactivity and amazement which is not only fun but educational - a perfect situation for children.
The first floor is based on natural disasters and features attractions such as the Tesla Coil which emits 100, 000 volts of electricity to your fingers to make your hair stand on end. It also has, one of my favourites, the Hurricane Shack which lets you experience force winds of 71 MPH as if you were in the centre of a hurricane. Likewise, the Earthquake Café lets you experience the sensation of being in an earthquake. Another feature I love is the ice cold water which is the same temperature of the water when the Titanic sank after colliding with an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean in 1912. The challenge is to see how long you can keep you hand under the water for – it won’t be long I can assure you!
Another floor features the Physical Challenge section. This includes a bubble lab, a wonder wall and a bed of nails – ouch! My favourite feature on this floor is MindBall, which test your concentration as you compete with a friend to stay calm and relaxed. There are also strength challenges and virtual sports games such as cricket to enjoy.
The Light & Sound floor contains many facts whilst letting you enjoy a gigantic piano and the ‘Strike a Pose’ booth which allows you to create silhouettes of yourself and your family using lighting tricks.
The next floor is the Imagination Lab which allows you and your family to get creative and have fun – we sure did! It features challenges with gears, saving aliens and designing and colouring.
The last floor includes Space Discovery attractions. The simulator is by far my favourite attraction on this floor which allows you to design and ride your very own rollercoaster. I definitely advise that you make time for this attraction
