Wolfgang Puck Restaurants at Downtown Disney

Wolfgang Puck Restaurants at Downtown Disney

The Wolfgang Puck Restaurant in Downtown Disney is positioned between the AMC cinema and the lagoon. If you are planning on just going to the area for a meal then by pass all the earlier parking areas and park at the back of the AMC. It’s then only a short walk to your meal.

The restaurant is really four in one but this review is only for the main full service restaurant which they call the Café. As you enter there is a quick service restaurant on the left and a Sushi bar on the right. There are two more areas the first is the Café which is straight on from the entrance area and the second which is called the Dining Room is up a set of stairs on another level.

We eat in here at least once per visit to Orlando and normally combine it with a visit to the cinema. This has given us the chance to see both the changes to the menu and restaurant over the years while finding a number of favourite dishes that we enjoy.

When we visit most of the time we try to avoid the busy periods of peak lunch time and early evening dinner. At these times the restaurant can get very busy and the wait times can easily be 30 minutes or more. However a more important reason as you will see from the attached photos is the general decoration in the restaurant. They have chosen a tiled themed with quite high ceilings and plenty of glass. The effect of all this is that even with the restaurant only half full you had better be proficient in sign language if you are not sitting next to the person you want to speak to. Despite this we do enjoy it and go back often.

In keeping with any Restaurant within the Disney borders the prices reflect the location not just the food. So while the item price may seem higher than you see elsewhere you are also paying for the view.

Wolfgang Puck is famous for his wood fired pizzas and as soon as you enter you can see the oven as it cooks the pizzas that have already been ordered. At this point I should say that although I have tried a couple I have not found them to be anything special. Just past the Oven is the open kitchen where the chefs are preparing the food. There is an open counter top here and if watching the chef’s work is your thing then you can request a seat here.

The menu is said to be ‘America California cuisine’ which seems to be anything you want it to be. While you are selecting you will be presented with an assorted bread basket. This does change from time to time and personally I like the special crisp flat bread when it is available.

There is a reasonable number of items and a good range of choice. I have a personal liking for the Butternut Squash soup, I like thick soup and this certain meets that description.

The Pumpkin Ravioli is my favourite main course; it’s served with port wine glaze, pine nuts, fried sage, and aged Parmesan. However on it own it would not be enough and you would need to something extra with it. I’m lucky in that my wife often has the Macadamia Nut Crusted Breast of Chicken which is to big so I finish up with a piece of chicken that goes perfectly with my Ravioli.

If you have room for dessert then there are plenty to choose from but one out shines all the rest for us and that is the Carrot Cake. Everyone tries to produce this; some are bad, some are good and then there is this one which is perfect. You owe it to yourself to at least try it.

They also serve a decent coffee here so that you can relax at the end of what should have been a good meal.
