Sneak Preview - The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Rides and Attractions
Just past Hogsmeade Village sits the Dragon Challenge, a ride based around the first task of the Tri Wizard Challenge. You must make your choice to challenge either the Chinese Fireball or the Hungarian Horntail dragon. Only the bravest, or most foolhardy, wizards will take the challenge a second time to ride both dragons.
Past the Dragon Challenge and just by the side of the Forbidden Forest is the Flight of the Hippogriff. Hagrid, who instructs the care of magical creatures, will first train you how to correctly ride a Hippogriff before sending you on a training flight over the grounds of Hogwarts.
And finally, Hogwarts Castle itself. You enter Hogwarts through the castle gates to experience the new, high technology attraction Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. This is where details get a little sketchy as much is still under wraps for this state of the art attraction. It is planned to take you on a journey through Hogwarts Castle, using new technology to immerse you in the areas and spaces of the castle. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey will use brand new technology to bring familiar stories, characters and places, such as the Gryffindor Common Room, to life in ways that have never before been experienced.
The Wizards creating Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey are keeping their tarot cards close to their chests. They have, so far, hinted at something flying; so perhaps a flying Ford Anglia or even a Broomstick and a game of Quidditch cannot be ruled out. The Wizards have also hinted at the use of ' new technology' . Nobody is yet sure what this ' new technology' involves, but one thing is sure; coming from the people who devised the Spiderman and Revenge of the Mummy attractions, this should be something quite special indeed.
At the exit to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey you will find Filch' s Emporium of Confiscated Goods, a place full of magical items and creatures rumoured to include Omnioculars and, of course, the nigh-on impossible to catch Flying Golden Snitches.
All in all, a truly magical experience! !
Caveat Emptor - At the time of writing (September 2009), what follows is still very much heresay, rumour, and supposition. The information here was cajoled out of sources which must remain secret. As such, what follows may, or may not, be representative of the final experience when the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opens in spring 2010.
