Wishes Nighttime Spectacular
‘Wishes’, which takes place almost every evening in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, has to be one of, if not the most, amazing firework show in the whole world. The first time we watched it I was dazzled and amazed, the second time I was enthralled and enchanted, the third time I was captivated and spell bound! I could go on forever, as I never tire of watching this show. It is still as mind blowing to watch for the 10th and 20th time, as it was that first night back in 2003. No trip to Orlando and Disney World is complete without at least one visit to see ‘Wishes’!
The best way I can describe ‘Wishes’ is as a “story in the sky”. Narrated by Jimminy Cricket, from the Disney film Pinocchio, the show tells the audience a story about making wishes come true. This twelve-minute spectacular takes guests on a journey of adventure and romance from Disney’s timeless classics using Disney songs and the film’s character voices. At the beginning of the show be sure to look out for Tinkerbell, sparkling from top to toe with twinkling lights, as she flies through the sky from the very top of Cinderella’s Castle and then off into the distance.
As the lights in Magic Kingdom begin to dim and the music starts up I can feel a tingle of excitement. Lasers flash across the castle and the show begins.
Never before have I seen fireworks with such vivid colours, everything is synchronised to the music with hundreds of sparkling pyrotechnic effects which explode around the castle. It truly is a sight to behold and one that I could watch over and over again.
As we leave the park, after watching ‘Wishes’, I always feel a slight tinge of sadness as everyone heads for the exit but I know that I will be back and will be able to see it all again very soon. It really is the perfect ending to a perfect day!
Make sure that you check the time ‘Wishes’ begins by reading your park map or asking a cast member at Guest Relations, as it can vary depending on the time of year that you are visiting. Just about anywhere from Main Street to all around Cinderella’s Castle is a good place to watch ‘Wishes’, but if you want a excellent view of Tinkerbell, stand to the right of the castle on the bridge and she will fly right over your head!
