Why rent a villa instead of a hotel - Part 1
To rent a villa is much more convenient than booking a hotel. You have the freedom to go where you like, when you like and to eat when you please. You will have the freedom to jump in your car and go to the parks rather than have to wait for the hotel transport and leave the park at a given time not of you choosing. Holiday hotels charge per person whereas villas generally charge for the whole villa, so a full occupancy can work out very much cheaper.
Some people, in the hottest months, like to go to the parks early and come back to their villa for lunch and a swim in the pool and return to the park later in the day when it is cooler: not so easy when you have to wait for hotel transport. A shopping trip to the out of town malls is quite expensive if you have to go by taxi as public transport is really not much of an option if you want to go Malls that are 20 or 25 miles away. The obvious advantage is a whole family can have privacy and space unlike being cooped up in a hotel room. It is very boring sometimes having to watch the television with the sound very low and tip toeing around the room in case you wake the little children asleep in the bed in a shared hotel room.
On the subject of renting a villa, you may find a lot of “do’s and don’ts” in the Terms and Conditions sent out by the owners. These are mainly for your protection and meant kindly and not meant to sound daunting. Most of the rules are obvious some may not appear so. Taking glassware out to the lanai or by the pool is not as simplistic as it may sound. I’m sure you are aware that when glass is dropped on concrete it splinters and it can take days to find it all and this is very painful if you tread on it. However if you get any in the pool it has to be drained to remove all the glass and this can cost upwards of $400.
Following pool hours rules is simply a consideration of your neighbours. Unlike a hotel, not all your neighbours will be on holiday, some villas are in residential areas and people have to get up for work and sound round a pool carries.
