Why I love a holiday in Orlando
Why do I love holidaying in Orlando?
Well the obvious answer to this is the theme parks, but there are so many other reasons too. The whole atmosphere of excitement that you see in the faces of the children about to meet Mickey Mouse for the very first time. The various choice of restaurants offering everything from cheap burgers to high class fine dining and everything in between. It is possible to stay for two weeks and have every meal of the day in a different restaurant every day and never go to the same one twice. This, of course in reality hardly ever happens, as people usually find a few good ones they favour and go to them every few days to try all the different options on the menu.
The choice of evening entertainment, apart from the offerings in the parks, are varied and many. Theme dining, golf courses for all the family, cinemas, museums and night clubs. Every age and taste is catered for. Many people go to the parks in the morning, go back to their villas for the afternoon by the pool, then return to the park for the evening. This gives them the chance for a rest and a cool down and to return to the rides when there are fewer queues. Plus the firework and laser displays after dark are awesome and should not be missed.
Then there is the shopping! Out of this world shops, from souvenirs to Christian Dior. Plus designer outlets for very expensive clothes at very inexpensive prices. Most things in Florida cost far less than in the UK. Do check the price in the UK before you go if you have something specific in mind to buy. Some things are not cheaper. Cameras, for example. Jewellery and clothing most definitely are cheaper.
I also love the casual way the Floridians have of never dressing up for anything; this makes for such a relaxing holiday, knowing if you want to dive into a restaurant on the way home from some where, you do not have to worry that you have not dressed up for it. It is exactly this casualness that makes them such a friendly, laid back people. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them and they are always interested in you and where you come from.
Apart from parks, there are so many other things to do from horse riding, golf, walking, cycling, ballooning, helicopter riding to water sports such as surfing, swimming, water skiing, fishing and air-boat riding. All these, and many more I probably have not even discovered yet. This is why I keep going back, just so I can soak up the atmosphere and discover even more things to do.
No, I never get bored, but if I did, I would just jump into my rental car and drive over to the gulf coast and discover that too.
