WHAT’S ON AT THE EPCOT INTERNATIONAL FLOWER AND GARDEN FESTIVAL, 2009

This annual festival takes place between March 18th and May 31st and is something not to be missed. This colourful event takes place each spring and the whole park is full or vibrant flower displays, speciality gardens, amazing topiary displays and educational events as well as fee live music concerts. Even if you aren’t a gardener there are lots of things for everyone of all ages to enjoy, or you can simply sit back and enjoy the beauty of nature, presented to perfection by the Disney gardeners. You might even learn something at one of the public demonstrations or question and answer sessions.

You will be delighted by the amazing ‘Cinderellabration’ topiary display as you walk through the entrance to Epcot. Located in front of Spaceship Earth it features colourful topiary displays of Cinderella, Prince Charming, Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as well as Beauty and the Beast.

Here are just some of the wonderful events which you will enjoy:

Pixie Hollow Fairy Garden

Tinker Belle has experienced a revival with the release of the film, ‘Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure’ and a beautiful and whimsical garden has been created with topiaries of Tinker Bell and her pixie friends There are hands-on activities for the children and a daily procession at 2. 00 pm where children who are dressed in fairy of princess costumes can join in the parade.

Green Garden

Here you can discover how to create an environmentally friendly garden. There will be experts on hand to show you how to make a low-water use garden (important in the often dry climate of Florida) and how to recycle. This exhibit is located by the Moroccan pavilion

Floral Floating Gardens

Between the East and West Lakes there are colourful floating gardens, including 8ft displays which are eco- friendly and soak up excess nutrients like nitrates and phosphates.

Disney Gardening at Home presentations

Disney gardeners are on hand to share gardening tips as well as to lead hands on activities each Friday to Sunday. Gardening celebrities and authors from all over the country share their secret gardening tips, and its a chance to ask all those horticultural questions.

The Garden Town Discoveries

Guests can attend speaker presentations and demonstrations each weekend. They can also ask questions and get expert gardening advice.

Art in the Garden

Plain air artists. French for ‘in the open air’ these artists particularly enjoy painting outdoors.

Environmentality Celebration April 24th-26th

This shows you how to keep the planet green by such things as reducing waste.

Minnie’s Magnificent Butterfly Garden

Here you will find hundreds of butterflies inside a screened enclosure which you can walk though. There are live exhibits showing how caterpillars turn into chrysalids and eventually emerge as butterflies.

Florida Farmer’s Market May 8th-10th

This is a huge Farmer’s Market

Epcot Flower Power Concerts

Between March 27th and May 31st there is a series of free concerts each weekend. These feature artists from the 60’s and 70’s. The concerts take place at the American Gardens Theatre near the American Pavilion. Don’t miss them!
