Water Parks in Orlando
There are 4 main water parks in the Orlando area
The main ones as you would guess are in Disney
Blizzard beachThis is set around a snow capped mountain (but with the Florida sunshine.
Melt away bay is the beach area which has great wave pool adults and children alike love this bit.
The waves do get a bit rough so it is best if you hang onto smaller children
Summit Plummet is as you would guess a large water drop it is said to be one of the biggest and fastest water slid and believe me it certainly does seen a long drop when you are at the top
To actually get to the top of mount gushmore where the start of summit plummet starts you can walk up or take the cable car; if you do take the cable car it gives you an overall view of the water park.
There are other rides available from the top. One family ride that several people can do together is team boat springs this is a large raft suitable for about 5 or 6 people
On the toboggan racers you lay down on a mat and race against other people this is one of our family’s favorite rides .
There are many more rides at blizzard beach
Typhoon LagoonI always feel this is a more gentler water park as the theme here is a dessert island and here they have a lazy river and when the sun is hot it is nice to get into a rubber ring in the river and just float around getting on and off as you please
There are about 9 water slides but as the theme is Dessert Island it is set around a beach. They do have a rolling tide and you are alerted to the tide by a loud hooter if you are not a strong swimmer I would suggest that you stand nearer to the shore as this tide is very strong and easily knocks you off your feet but the kids love it.
At either Disney parks you can Hire there towels and for about $2 it is not worth carrying your own towels
AqaticaThis park is part of the sea world company and is the newest of the water parks in the Orlando area and well worth a visit it has 36 slides so it says but the main slide is a large clear plastic tube that runs through a large dolphin lagoon. There is also a large beach area where you can just relax and watch the fun.
Wet and WildI do understand this is the oldest of the water parks; it is at the bottom of International Drive
They have several rides that all the family can go on together. They have a two person hydro capsule blasts you off. There is also the black hole, this is a good ride but not if you don’t like the dark. At Wet and Wild they do allow you to go in just for the afternoon at reduced rates. In the summer months in the evening time they have live bands which make for a great evening
Whatever water parks you try you I am sure will not be disappointed but I would add that we always take a cool box with some snacks and drinks as prices can soon mount up.
