Watching the parades, at Walt Disney world.
An interesting part of visiting a Disney park is making time to watch a parade. Times vary but there are usually 2 parades daily, you have to look on your guide map (which is free) as you enter your chosen park for the times of the parade.
We arrived at the Magic Kingdom just as the parade was passing by, we did miss the start of it, but hoped we hadn’t missed too much! . These parades are very well organised by Disney, with the utmost attention given to the safety of the guests. You have to stay behind the tape so that you don’t get in the way of the very heavy floats.
Our little 4 year old Katie had dressed up in her Minnie Mouse costume, a lovely red spotty dress, complete with mouse ears and she looked so cute, and was excited about her visit to the Magic Kingdom; we stood watching the parade, seeing all the beautifully dressed characters’ go slowly by on their floats, some characters were not on floats but came dancing along the road between them. Cinderella looked wonderful in her coach, with her prince, the fairy godmothers came dancing by, waving at the children. Peter Pan was next, followed by the evil Captain Hook! Snow White looked lovely, and the costume was superb, we all waved and smiled as they passed by. Donald Duck and Daisy duck, along with Huey Dewey and Louie came along next. Ariel, the little mermaid was a huge success, passing by in her “bubble “to the sound of “A dream is a wish your heart makes”
Little Katie was desperately looking for Minnie Mouse…. her favourite character! Is Minnie going to come? Katie asked. I looked down at her and she had her fingers crossed, she wanted to see her so, so much.
Then along came characters in broom costumes, with buckets……the sorcerers apprentice…. . so perhaps Mickey Mouse was on his way, and that could mean Minnie! With baited breath we watched, and waited, hoping that Minnie would come. Then we saw her, our much loved Minnie Mouse. As the float passed slowly by Katie was waving franticly at Minnie, the biggest smile on her little face……and Minnie saw her, and put her two fingers to her eyes to let Katie know she had seen her in her Minnie costume, and then Minnie waved and blew Katie a kiss! What a moment to remember, little Katie couldn’t stop talking about it all day,
This is a little bit of the Disney magic that so many of us talk about, and what dreams are made of……. so, dreams really do come true.
