Virgin Atlantic, Economy or Premium?
We have flown by many of the carriers to Florida but by choice, we choose Virgin Atlantic, having flown many times in the economy cabin, we now choose Premium for several reasons.
I am quite a broad man and in economy, my width imposes itself on fellow passengers sitting alongside me, so I find myself hunching my shoulders in so that I don’t encroach on their space, very uncomfortable when undertaking a 10 hour flight, in addition, it is very difficult to get some sleep on the return journey if you have no room to move and get comfortable, but in addition to the above we must not forget all of the other advantages to flying in this compartment.
Upstairs on a Jumbo aircraft is really where you want to be, if flying premium, there is lots of room, plenty of storage not only above but in the side panels and the staff to passenger ratio is good.
With your own check in so that the long queues become a thing of the past, privileged boarding, complementary champagne or sparkling wine upon boarding, enhanced menu’s and complementary drinks throughout the flight, soup in a crock bowl and metal knives, forks and spoons, to, upon landing being one of the first to unload from off of the plane which gives the advantage of clearing immigration before the hoards, which in turn gets you to the car hire desks before the crowds start, even your enhanced luggage allowance is given priority status.
True, it’s quite a lot more expensive than economy but, you get what you pay for.
I stated at the start of this write up that we choose Virgin Atlantic over the others, why do we do this?
We have flown BA, Travel City Direct, AA, although AA were good, Continental but have found that the friendliness of the Virgin staff, from check in to flight attendants, suits us. We like the food choice having never had a bad meal on Virgin, we like the attitude of the staff and the off beat way that the company operates, but above all, we trust the brand.
You may have different idea’s, you may have had a different experience to us but we have flown to Florida and California several times, South Africa twice, we even flew to Majorca with Virgin Sun when they were operating on that route and have never, ever had anything other than a good experience.
As I said earlier, you may disagree, you may have horror stories to tell, but this is our perspective and this is what we find.
