Troyers Dutch Heritage
How many times have you eaten out in Florida? dozens? hundreds? thousands. Think you have tried everywhere? Well maybe not. Have you eaten Amish style?
Troyers Dutch Heritage restaurant serves Amish style cooking in Sarasota and is open every day except sunday from 6. a. m It is close to an Amish settlement in the area.
The main stay of the menu is the home baked goods from pastries and pies, to bread and doughnuts to pastries; served fresh from the oven.
Start your day with a hearty breakfast; how about Emmanuals Favourite, one of their signature dishes. This contains 2 eggs, biscuits, bacon or sausage, hash browns, toast and gravy (yes really). Can’ t face that; then peruse the extensive menu for something lighter.
For you main meal select from chicken, seafood, pork or beef and add two of their unique sides that are included in the price. Or maybe order the hot buffet and sample a little of everything. Their mashed potatoes are justly famous.
Watching your weight? well sample the healthy non stop salad bar where tasty fresh combinations will not leave you deprived.
Whether you choose to have a blow out or the healthy alternative leave room for the star of the show; pudding. Almost certainly it has to be a slice of the home made pie; butterscotch maybe, or pumpkin. Then again, the bread pudding is pretty special, isn’ t it. But hang on; hot fudge brownie sundae, can you really resist that? The only solution is to each order something different and sample each others. Puds cost only $2 or $3 so you can afford to splash out and for a small supplement add some soft ice cream.
Children are well catered for with all their favourites at a surprisingly low cost and it truly is a family restaurant where children are welcomed.
Meal over then head upstairs where they have a gift shop with hand made jewellery, cards, candles and gifts.
The final temptation is the bakery near the entrance. Can you resist taking home some home made cookies or cherry pie? I doubt it!
Off back to your rental villa and fancy eating by the pool rather than at the restaurant? who wouldn’ t? Then just stop by for a takeaway. Start with some broasted chicken. meat loaf or glazed ham and then add some mashed potatoes that are sold by the pint. Add a diiner roll ach and your choice of pie and you will have a sumptuoos feast.
