Toy Story Mania at Hollywood Studios – Part One
Toy Story Mania is Disney’s Hollywood Studios newest attraction and one that should definitely be on your ‘to do list’ when visiting the park.
As you walk into the building, which houses the Toy Story Mania ride, you are reduced to toy size. As you wait in line look at all the amazing variety of toys from the past, one of which is a huge Scrabble board. Mr Potato Head, who must be about five feet tall (remember that you are now toy size), keeps everyone interested whilst they are waiting by telling jokes and having parts of his body fall off every now and then! He is even able to interact with guests
After walking up the stairs you will be given your 3-D glasses and then you are ready for the ride. Each car accommodates four riders. The unusual thing about these cars is that you will be sitting back to back. You will be firing your toy cannon at the targets in different game booths which you will come across throughout the ride in Andy’s bedroom. All the familiar characters from the film Toy Story will be encouraging you throughout the ride, Woody, Buzz, Bo Peep, Hamm and the Green Army Men are all present.
The object of the game is to compete for the highest score and if you can find the hidden targets you will increase your score greatly. The ride is highly detailed. For instance when you pop a balloon at one of the game booths you will feel the rush of air as it bursts. One of the things that I really liked about this ride and have never come across before, was the fact that you can see the virtual objects which have been fired from your cannon. So you know whether they have actually hit their targets or not. You can even sense some objects flying past you as they appear out of the 3-D scenes.
There are seven Toy Story Mania games in all, including a practice round at the very beginning. Guest will have thirty seconds in each of the game areas to score their points. The actual ride lasts about five minutes.
This attraction is aimed at all ages and all level of skills. There are no height or age restrictions.
