ToonTown Fair
Little ones love ToonTown but it can get very crowded with families by mid-day, so try to go to this area early or late in the day. When our girls were little we used to make sure they had a good afternoon nap before we took them as this part of the Park does get quieter towards the evening. Some parents that have started in this section around mid-day can be seen pushing buggies with sleeping children in by late afternoon, the children exhausted but have not always seen everything they wanted to.
On your right as you enter Mickey' s Toontown Fair, you will see the only roller coaster in Walt Disney World designed specifically for children. This is the Barnstormer at Goofy' s Wiseacres Farm. Although this is a fairly tame roller coaster, it may still be too scary for children under 3. Children must be at least 35' tall to ride.
There is usually a queue for this roller coaster and you go through cornfields and past a Goofy scarecrow. As you walk through the barn, you are treated to the clucking of hens.
The coaster itself is designed to look like a 1920s crop-duster, a biplane that takes you over red barns and farm buildings. In typical Goofy fashion, you finish the ride by safely ' crashing' into one of the barns This is a very short coaster ride, it lasts about two minutes, it takes longer to walk through the queue area than it does to ride the roller coaster but the children love it.
In the middle of Toontown is Donald' s wreck of a boat, the S. S. Miss Daisy. This is a great water-play area for the little ones, perfect for cooling down on hot days. Miss Daisy is Donald Duck' s blue, yellow and red boat that features Daisy Duck herself on the boat' s bow, as well as a twisted smokestack, from which Donald' s dripping sailor' s suit dries. Children can run around on the spongy ground, and venture inside to spin the Captain' s Wheel, pull the ship' s whistle (which causes water to spurt out the top of the boat), or clang Miss Daisy' s loud boat bell.
Nearby they can have fun at Toon Park, a mini-playground with plenty of room for the little ones to crawl around and burn off some of their excess energy. You will find a playhouse and slide here, and for the adults a number of shaded benches. If you are there during the Christmas period this play area is decorated like an old-fashioned Christmas tree sales lot, complete with live pine trees, poinsettias and even price lists.
Adults and children alike love Mickey' s Country House. As you enter Mickey' s lookout for all the ' mouse-ified' details including the coat rack and the mirror. Look at Mickey’s hall table and see who he has got post from -Buzz Lightyear, Ariel, even Wendy and Peter Pan!
Then onto Minnie' s Country House which is a bungalow painted in lovely shades of lavender and baby pink and decorated with hearts and flowers. In the living room, you see Minnie' s way-out taste in furniture, as well as her family and friends' photographs.
Before you leave ToonTown stop at Toontown Hall of Fame to see Mickey and his friends. This normally opens from 10 a. m. until park closing and is a great opportunity to get some fantastic photos.
If it is needed the restroom in this area is disguised as Pete' s Garage, immediately opposite the Barnstormer.
