Tips When Visiting Water Parks
Most people travel to the water parks by car. Currently car parking is free at the Disney Water Parks but you have to pay to park at Aquatica, I think it is $10.
If you do use Disney transport to go to Blizzard Beach and plan playing golf at Winter Summerland you need to be aware that once the water park closes the buses stop calling At Blizzard Beach.
In busy periods like Easter, school holidays or Christmas it is best to always plan to get to the water parks at least half an hour before the park opens. You will then be at the front of the queues when the gates are opened.
We usually send one of the “faster” members of our party ahead of us with a few towels and they go on ahead and reserve our sun loungers and chairs.
Many of the Disney Theme Park tickets have x amount of water passes included but if you need to purchase individual tickets always look to see how much the annual pass is. It usually works out that these are better value if you intend to use it for more than two visits.
If you want to avoid going early to the water parks in busy periods the Disney ones seem to clear a bit with guests leaving to prepare for their evening trips about 2/3pm. Our girls had a great time at Aqautica last summer when we used to go about 5. 00 pm. We had 14 day unlimited entry to Aquatica and Seaworld so they went about 5 times. It was open until 10. 00pm and l illuminated at this time of day with very short queues.
At Disney Water Parks you can buy a refillable cup for about $9 that you can refill as many times as you like that from a selection of about 5 drinks. You can also take this cup back to the park to refill on subsequent visits for approx$6. We have a couple of cups we have been taking back for about 4 years now!
There is plenty of the usual type of fast food available in the parks. We tend to use our visits as an opportunity to have our burger “fix”. However you often see larger families with a complete picnic including sandwiches crisps and soft drinks.
If you sit by the water in the parks this often has waves that come further in from time to time. Be careful not to leave shoes or books under your loungers or chairs as they float off and get very wet!
We usually take an old watch, a small note pad and a couple of pencils with us that we leave on one of the chairs. Our party can then split up and record for others to see what time it was and where they went, this we keep updating during the day.
One final word of warning be sure to take plenty of sun cream and never under estimate how hot it is. Just because you feel cool through being in and out of the water does not mean you are not burning.
