Tips to Save Money on your Disney Holiday
Florida and the magic of the Theme Parks brings visitors back year after year. I thought I would put some money saving tips I have learnt over the years in this guide. I have also written “Money Saving Tips for Planning your Holiday” as another guide.
Collect all the free magazines vouchers books etc which are on display all over Orlando and go through looking for money off vouchers for the places you are likely to eat/visit during your holiday. There is always at least one member of our family up really early during the first couple of days and it is there job to cut out the relevant vouchers! We usually put them in a plastic sealable bag and keep it in the glove compartment of the car.
Tourist Information Centres are worth a visit as they are good for giving out cards for discounts in their local area.
Park tickets – here there are decisions to be made as there are quite a few options. Some families opt for a 14 day expiry tickets for some or all of the parks. It can be very tiring going to Parks everyday but one year we bought the girls unlimited 14 day access to Aqautica and Seaworld and they were a really good buy. It was in the summer and Aquatica in particular was very busy during the day so they used to go about 4. 00pm and stay until closing when the park was much quieter. It also meant we could pop into Seaworld at anytime just for a couple of hours.
If you buy a Hopper Pass the best way to maximise your use of these is to spend a very full day at the parks starting at opening time and going to various parks. You do not need to use your car fuel by driving just use the free Disney Transportation to go between Parks. Some people even park at the water parks where the parking is free (currently costs $14 at Disney Parks) and take the free transportation to the other parks.
If you are staying in a villa you can save quite a bit by eating meals in rather than buying every meal at a restaurant.
Wal-Mart is a great place for visitors to shop. Here you can buy ponchos, sand shoes, autograph books and many holiday items at a fraction of the cost of the parks. They are also a great place to buy sun cream the latest aerosol sprays are good as they dry so quickly.
Try and take some of your own drinks to the Parks this is quite a saving. We often put water in the freezer good money saver and will last all day as the ice melts.
Do not forget you get free refills of coffee and cokes in most restaurants. Applebees offer two for one on wines and beers all day everyday.
Happy Hours have some great offers for food, these usually are between 5 and 7 pm every evening.
Look at your bills in restaurants some charge a service charge without telling you. Also look at your receipts they often give you a percentage discount off your next meal.
