Those Last Minute Bits and Pieces
You know what it’s like…. every good intention to take home a few little gifts and souvenirs for friends and family, but then time defeats you. You’ve had a great holiday, done and seen everything you wanted to, except for that last minute shopping. Before you know it the bags are packed, the engine is running and you’re heading for the car rental return at the airport.
Well, for those of you flying out of Orlando International Airport help is at hand. After dropping off the car and checking in your luggage, the main airport concourse offers a good choice of retail outlets in which to spend those last few dollars in your purse.
From the bag drop off area the escalator silently glides upwards to a huge airy atrium where travellers are going about there business. To the left the outside elevators of the impressive Radisson Hotel scurry between floors and an imposing fountain forms an elegant central focal point.
Around the perimeter there are plenty of shops in which to browse before heading off through passport control. Those clever people at Disney have one of their own stores in the concourse area, so even if you forgot something at the theme parks, it is likely that it will be on sale here. Not to be outdone, SeaWorld offer a similar store quite close by with a range of Shamu and other souvenirs available.
There is even representation from the Kennedy Space Center whose stock includes everything from moon rocks and space suits to pencil sharpeners and key rings.
If, by this time, you still haven’t come across everything you were looking for then possibly the Duty Free store might offer something to your liking.
Being located ‘airside’ you first need to clear security and will also need to show a boarding card before any purchases can be made. There is a good range of perfumes, tobacco and spirits at very reasonable prices, supplemented by a plentiful selection of chocolates and jewellery. The good thing is that anything you buy is delivered to the aircraft door for collection before boarding so there is no need to carry heavily laden bags around the terminal building.
If you still haven’t bought everything you are just about running out of options with probably just a bookstore or jewellery counter left to check out.
Failing that there’s always the Duty Free on board your plane, if you are still awake when the trolley comes round, but that’s definitely it.
Happy last minute shopping! ! !
