The Wave - Contemporary Resort
This restaurant which seats 220 is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner and aims as well as providing great food to being health conscious.
You enter the restaurant on the first floor of the hotel through a brushed steel arch ' tunnel' into The Wave' s lounge, which is supposed to be one of the largest at Walt Disney World Resort. The décor is brown with copper and there is great lighting. Booths line the perimeter of the dining room, and wooden tables are set with white linen napkins. There is a very large central table covered in purple and gold fabric.
Here you will find the classic American breakfast menu which includes plenty of egg dishes, but guests also can make their own Wave muesli or sip a Beta Berry Smoothie with raspberry puree and non-fat yogurt blended with Odwalla Berries GoMega. My Mother informs me that the latter is a good source of Omega-3.
For the more daring the Pure Sunshine breakfast cocktail features organic vodka and orange juice topped with a vitamin energy drink. I suppose that the excuse for having as vodka so early in the day must be that you also get your vitamins! If you prefer a coffee this is organic.
If you decide to have lunch here but do not want anything heavy they have great starters that can be served as a main course. These include lettuce wraps with sautéed lamb and bay scallops, or a lump crab cake with crispy papaya slaw.
For those wishing to have a salad be prepared because these are oversized. They really are good and include Spice Crusted Chicken Salad, Mediterranean Tuna Salad or Italian Chef Salad.
If you prefer something more hearty go for the Reuben Sandwich or an Angus Chuck Bacon Cheeseburger but you may not have room for a dessert!
If you dine here in the evening be sure to try some of their delicious cocktails. These include Tropi-glow' Cocktail which includes organic mango and passion fruit liqueur with rum and a souvenir multicoloured glow cube or the Antioxidant Cocktail which has a vodka base.
The dinner menu offers some comfort classics such as braised lamb shank with bulgur lentil stew and red wine sauce, a chicken pot pie with thyme pastry and grilled marinated flank steak. Sides include greens and roasted sweet potatoes and carrots.
If you have left room for a dessert try the many choices for mixing and matching three mini-favorites for one price. Choose from chocolate mousse with chocolate ganache, to yogurt sorbet with blueberry compote and coconut panna cotta with passion fruit. Or if you really must, have a dessert cocktail like the Mudslide Martini: Baileys Irish Cream, Vanilla Vodka, Kahlúa and vanilla ice cream!
