The Pipers Grille
Anyone who knows us will know that our all time favourite place for breakfast is the Market St Cafe in Celebration, but finding ourselves planning to travel West on the I4, our usual haunt was in the wrong direction from our home in the Championsgate area.
We had heard some good reports about The Pipers Grille at The Championsgate Golf Club so we decided to venture into pastures new!
The Golf Club can be found by leaving The I4 at junction 58 and heading into the Championgate area, this is a right turn If you are travelling west and a left turn if you are travelling east. Continue through Championsgate and turn right at the traffic lights past the Omni hotel (if you are coming from the 54 or the 27 this will be a left turn) continue along the road through the beautifully manicured gardens until you see the sign for the golf club on your left, and turn in here. Parking is to the left of the club house.
On entering the club house the restaurant is to your left.
A lazy start to the day meant we did not arrive until almost 10am and the restaurant was very quiet, the later start golfers had eaten and gone and those who had started early were not yet back in from playing their round. Apart from one other party we had the restaurant to jourselves. We were, nevertheless, given a warm welcome and shown to a table overlooking the water and the distant landscape. Today was quite windy and slightly overcast but in better weather there is the option to sit outdoors on the terrace as well.
The menu was extensive with all the usual breakfast entrees, some Mexican themed choices and plenty to choose from for vegetarians as well. Our party of four all opted for different items, I had a Hawaiiian omelette with ham, 2 different cheeses and pineapple, it was served with a side of ham bacon or sausage and a choice of breakfast potatoes or a fruit cup. It was also accompanied by 2 slices of toast which could be substituted for a bagel or an English muffin. My husband chose a Denver omelette, with mushrooms, peppers, onions and bacon, and the other two members of our party chose poached eggs and eggs benedict, the same sides were on offer with all the entrees. the food was freshly cooked, hot and truly delicious, the portions were generous but not over facing.
Including our coffees the bill for the four of us was just less than $50, about $2. 00 a head more than we usually pay in Celebration, but with the excellent choice, quality and service we will definitely be returning.
