The Palm Restaurant
Whilst we as a family always like to stay in a villa over a hotel it doesn’t stop us from trying out some of the fabulous restaurants that are located in the hotels around the Orlando area. One of our favourites is the Palm Restaurant in Universals Hard Rock Hotel. It is a branch of the World famous classic American Steak house that was founded in New York City in 1926 and is located on the lobby level just past the front desk. I would strongly recommend that you make a reservation as it gets very busy. The phone number is 407 503 7256 and the restaurant is open for dinner Monday through to Saturday from 5pm – 11pm on Sundays the restaurant closes at 10pm. Dress is informal although you wouldn’t feel out of place if you wanted to dress up a little. They also have private Dining Rooms available for groups of 12 – 54 people.
The Palm specialises is prime aged steaks, chops and jumbo lobsters. The lobsters are flown in live from Nova Scotia every day so you can be assured of perfectly fresh lobster every time you dine.
Another speciality of the house are their ‘bird bath’ sized Margaritas – definitely a good night to book a taxi!
The Palm is decorated with mahogany panelling and like the original restaurant has some great cartoons adorning the walls.
The menu has it staples but is supplemented with daily specials we always try to order something different each time we visit but inevitably end up with a few family favourites. Don’t miss out on the fabulous Prime aged Steak Tartare or the delicious Lobster Bisque, our favourite salad would have to be the Monday Night salad with finely chopped romaine, iceberg, tomato, onion, roasted pepper and anchovie or the Arugula and Endive with strawberries, toasted walnuts and a balsamic dressing. Some of our must have entrees aside from the fabulous steaks and lobster are the Veal or Chicken Parmigiana or the Tuscan broiled split chicken, which is cooked with lemon, garlic and rosemary and is delicious. Side dishes include the sautéed wild mushrooms and three cheese potatoes au gratin.
There is a great kids menu with child size portions of many of the adult dishes. Appetisers such as Caeser salad or Mozzarella sticks, entrees include Spaghettini served with a choice of sauces, 8oz fillet mignon with French fries or the more traditional kids menu offering of Chicken fingers served with French fries.
