If you have children, then you should definitely make time to visit is The Museum of Discovery and Science.
This museum is divided into several distinct areas and I am going to whet your appetite by taking you briefly through each one.
RUNWAY TO ROCKETS tells you how scientists launched space vehicles and how astronauts harness radio waves and light.
THE GREAT GRAVITY CLOCK boasts that it is one of only 3 such clocks in the world. It is also the only kinetic construction of that size in the whole of Florida
GIZMO CITY is an interactive exhibit that has a really good section on robots.
FLORIDA ESCAPES is a graphic display of Florida' s unique eco system nd us human beings responsibility towards the safe future of the enviroment.
CHOOSE HEALTH sounds dull but they have managed to make it fun.
LIVING IN THE EVERGLADES is packed with info on this fragile area and how they are managing to reverse the damage.
SCIENCE OF SOUND is just what it says on the tin. Lots of things you did not know about this arm of the scientific world.
DISCOVERY CENTRE has those charming little creatures called otters at play and a mineral and rocks display and a fosil boneyard. How often do you get the chance to see an otter?
On your way out do visit the gift shop; it is a cut above most others and it is nice for the children to have a memento of their wonderful day out.
I think that this museum is so exciting that in future articles I am going to explore each section in depth. If you have children, do go!

This museum is open every day of the year and costs around $15 to get in. Of course there are (small) concessions for old age pensioners and children and under one year olds are not charged at all.
There is a good IMAX next door and if you wanted to combine the two then get a joint ticket that represents a good saving.
