THE LOST CONTINENT -ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE
When you enter the Lost Continent you will realise it is not a very " theme park" like area as you travel through the three mystical sections.
The first section, when entering from Seuss Landing, is the Lost City, followed by Sindbad Village and Merlin Woods. Be on the look out for the Great Wizard Merlin, you may see him if you are lucky.
Visit the Poseidon’ s Fury where special effects combine with live-action. It is a walk-through attraction and you tour the remains of Poseidon’ s ancient temple. Everyone ignores the warnings to leave the temple and you will find yourself trapped right in the middle of a fierce battle over Poseidon’ s Trident, between Poseidon, God of the Sea and of course his enemy Darkennon. You will be facing lasers, fireballs and a 95 MPH water vortex tunnel!
As you pass the Mystic Fountain (this is located just outside of the Sindbad Stunt Show) throw a coin into the fountain and test your wits with its spirit.
You will enjoy the Eighth Voyage of Sindbad Stunt Show, which is a twenty-minute show. Join Sindbad and his partner Kabob as they try to rescue Princess Amoura from the sorceress Miseria and her men. Plenty of stunts, corny jokes and pyrotechnics.
I personally have never been on or think I will ever go on Duelling Dragons but my brother and daughter love it. Guests ride fire or ride ice on this inverted duelling roller coaster. The story is of two battling Dragons one named Pyrrock and the other named Blizzrock, and you get to choose which Dragon to ride. The actual coaster ride takes place outside over Dragon Lake and each coaster track is a completely different ride with three breath takingly near misses.
Poseidon’s Fury, Eighth Journey of Sindbad and Duelling Dragons are all Universal Express attractions.
If you like to have your dinner at the parks visit the Mythos restaurant which is one of only two full service restaurants in Islands of Adventure and I would highly recommend it. It also opens for lunch. You sit inside the cave-like restaurant or outside on the patio that overlooks the inland waterway with fantastic views of the Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon and Jurassic Park. Reservations are available and I would recommend you make one particularly during busy holiday periods.
It has a great menu amongst our favourites is Blueberry and Pistachio Crusted Grilled Pork. This is served with blue cheese and a port wine sauce. Also try Chicken a’ la Oscar this has lump crab, mashed potato, chef’ s vegetables and sauces. The children’s menu has the usual dishes but also includes steak.
Other places to eat here are Fire Eaters Grill a counter service restaurant serving gyros, chicken, hot dogs and salad or the Enchanted Oak Tavern where you can sample ribs and turkey legs.
Be sure to visit the shops before you leave the Lost Continent. These include the Treasure of Poseidon, The Dragons Keep and the Coin Mint where metal coins are forged and struck.
You will enjoy this area of Islands of Adventure.
