The Loop-Shopping and Entertainment Centre
Just on the junction of the Oceola Parkway and the John Young Parkway is a relatively new shopping and entertainment development called The Loop. Again it’s another shopping area where you come outside between shops and there is a nice little Starbucks where you can stop for a coffee, sit outside and catch up with a few rays.
One of the big draws is Kohl’s department store. There’s a home furnishings area, ladies and men’s fashions, jewellery and children’s clothes and toys. Some people rave over Kohl’s –I find it ok. I prefer Macy’s at the Florida mall to be honest. Next door to Kohl’s is Ross dress for less. This is a bit like the British TK Maxx a nice big shop where you can have a rummage for bargains.
Going a bit further along is Bed, Bath and Beyond another favourite of mine-as well as the obvious bed furnishings they also have nice gift items and accessories. Anyone looking for things for the home should also pop over the road to the Kirklands store-they carry a lovely range of home accents and accessories.
Sportsmen and women are well catered for with a huge Sports Authority.
By now you must be feeling more than a bit peckish and there are several eateries to tempt you. Our favourite is Panera Bread. This is a takeaway and restaurant combined . It does delicious breads, salads, sandwiches, pizzas and home made soups all cooked on the premises. I cannot recommend it enough. You really are spoiled for choice. If we are en route to somewhere pretty close by –then we park up while someone in the car does the sandwich run. Then with our picnic-we go off to our destination. If you do have time to eat in and have your laptop with you you can even log on while you are there. If you have any space left they also do a nice range of muffins and cake. (Other restaurants to try close by are Chili's and Mimi's)
Feeling refreshed and still ready to do battle. Then you have Old Navy which is always worth a look if you can’t find what you are looking for in one of their retail outlets. Also there is Michaels for those who love to do art and crafts. You can spend hours in this store just looking at all the bits and bobs for your next project. Just along from there is an Avon shop which is really nice to go in and test all their products before you buy.
As the stores are open till late-9-30pm during the week so it very much comes alive at night as a lot of the restaurants stay open till later. You get a really lively crowd on a night and it is very popular with younger people. Also there is a cinema so that is a big draw. It has 16 theatres and not a lot of people know this –it also doubles as a church on a Sunday morning. Makes perfect sense really when you think about it.
The Loop has only been open 2 years and it is proving to be so popular phase two is under development. I myself cannot wait to see what goodies they are going to surprise us with.
Other restaurants to try close by are Chili's and Mimi's.
