The Hulk, Islands of Adventure, Universal
People from my school had told me about Islands of Adventure, its roller coasters …. and The Hulk.
I’d not been able to ride it before as I wasn’t tall enough (I blame my parents for not being taller!!). As we drove into Universal I felt very excited and my first thought was ‘Wow’! We parked the car and used the walkways. As we approached Islands of Adventure I was tense and feeling a bit nervous. We sorted out our tickets and went through the gates, past some pretty themed shops towards ‘The Hulk’.
It looked massive and loads of loops and made a gentle roaring noise as it moved. It’s a very tall, green, high up roller coaster with loads of loops. There were twists, small loops and big loops – would I have the courage to ride this?
As I got closer to The Hulk I felt like I really wanted to go on it but began to get nervous. In the building we queued up and saw green piping around us. The queue split into two further on. One for the front seats and one for the other seats – the front seats always had the longest queue. We chose the shorter queue for other seats. We were lucky - our queue took just 15 minutes but some days it can take an hour.
We arrived at the front of our queue and there was the roller coaster car! We took our turn and sat down – I was feeling so nervous but really, very, very excited. It started to move slowly up in a darkish tunnel. At about half way up the tunnel it suddenly go zoomed forward with sound effects and voices around you at the same time. We’re off!! You go straight outside – no stopping – into a twist and then followed by a loop. After that you continue going through all the loops and twists. The track was very smooth – more so than ‘Duelling Dragons’, another ride I love at Islands of Adventure. You can’t hear the roaring noise of the car as there’s so much screaming going on! You go through some water but it’s only like a spray. (You can see the water when you watch the ride but you don’t really see or notice it when you’re riding).
The ride probably lasts about 2 minutes but it goes very quickly and is worth it. I felt so excited when I came off – and I did it all over again!
