The Burgers that ate Florida
Okay, I’ve written a few articles on here that talk about how there is more to Disney Park food than burgers and fries. I’ve even had a number of moans in the past about people who claim there is nothing to eat other than burger and fries – poppycock! In this article I’m going to turn that around. This article is catered for those that want the burgers and fries, chicken strips and hot dogs. I know you’re out there, heck sometimes it’s all I fancy for a lunchtime.
Magic Kingdom:
Casey’s Corner at the end of Main Street sells wonderful hot dogs, which I will ALWAYS sample at least once a trip. Pecos Bill’s is the long time market-leader in American fare in the park and Cosmic Rays in Tomorrowland represents a great option for the family whose eating habits are varied.
EPCOT:
A picky-eater’s nightmare – but don’t worry: the Electric Umberella has all the burgery goodness a child might be calling for at one in the afternoon (note all the burgers at the E. U are double patties, so can often feed two). While it is (correctly) criticised for giving a poor representation, the Liberty Inn at the American pavilion has some of the best fast food on property.
Hollywood Studios:
Upmarket burger and fries (! ! ! ) can be found at the Sci-Fi Diner, while the more typical fare is to be found at the Backlot Express. They also sell particularly hearty cheeseburgers at the ABC Comissary. Most of the food here is relatively familiar, and the Studios along with the Magic Kingdom, is the best park for the picky eaters.
Animal Kingdom:
Burger lovers are usually restricted to the sole domain of Restaurantosaurus which serves MacDonald’s food. In addition, the Rainforest Café and Pizzafari offer tamer options.
Others:
Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club has surely the best food for the burger n fries crowd in Disney World. Other fine options include The Big River Brewery on the Boardwalk and Planet Hollywood at West Side. For the hyper-unadventurous, there is a regular MacDonald’s in the Disney Marketplace.
The main rule to the theme park options I have mentioned is ARRIVE EARLY and eat lunch before 11. 30. Just about all of the places above are heaving at peak hours due to the number of kids (and adults) who won’t eat anything unfamiliar. If you are one of these people, I hope this has helped somewhat.
