TGI Fridays
Although we now have TGI Fridays in the UK they are not as good as the real thing and a trip to any of the TGI’s in Florida will leave you realising what I mean , TGI’s remains a firm favourite with all the family the only downside is that at certain times it can get quite busy
Our first encounter with TGI’s was quite a few years ago now when the kids were much younger, our youngest son was a little difficult in finding something that he would like to eat and this was just the same in TGI’s
We found one close to where we were staying on the 192, upon entering we were very pleased to find it very clean with very friendly and helpful staff, we were quickly seated and the famous American service sprung into action, we were left to decide on our choice from the menu whilst the waitress went to the bar to fetch out drinks
I chose the steak and shrimp in the TGI’s house jack Daniels sauce, this has turned out to be my favourite dishes at TGI’s and its also available with just steak or just shrimp on its own
My wife chose something similar and our youngest son who was 11 at the time chose a chicken dish with a dark balsamic sauce drizzled over the chicken on a salad bed. In most restaurants in America you are offered a Caesar salad before your main meal arrives for a few Dollars, and there is nothing quite like their caeser salads….delicious!
The waitress delivered the food shortly and after a few minutes later it became obvious that our son didn’t like the sauce on the chicken and was picking at his food; the waitress very quickly noticed a problem and came over to investigate.
She asked if anything was wrong and we told her everything was ok it was just he didn’t like the sauce very much she was extremely apologetic and asked if he wanted anything else instead, we being typical Brits didn’t want to make a fuss but the waitress suggested spaghetti bolognaise and our son agreed, this soon arrived and he tucked into this with no problems
Shortly after we finished our meal the manager came over to apologise for the food and we told him it was not TGI’s fault but that it was ours because he simply didnt like what he had chosen, he was still apologetic and told us we would not be charged for the meal, we were amazed at this as there was nothing wrong with the meal simply a choice of food that our son didn’t like.
We never forgot this sort of service and as a result we have always visited TGI’s Fridays regularly on our visits to Florida were service really does count.
