TERMINATOR 3-D: Universal Studios
Terminator 2: 3-D ride is located in Universal Studios, Orlando Florida. The ride is based on the time between T2 and T3 films, where John Connor has to try and defeat Cyberdine Systems and stop the end of the World.
The ride is a mix of 3-D effects and stage show that gives the audience the feeling that they are actually in the film. The way they have interlinked the action on the screen and the acting on stage is really very good. This in my view makes this one of the best 3-D rides in the whole of Orlando.
As the ride is very popular the queues can be a bit long at peak times of the day. As the ride is situated right at the front entrance to the park I would advise staying well clear until the majority of people head for the other rides. On average we queued for around 30 minutes. The park can keep the queues to a minimum as the auditorium can hold up to 500 people at a time.
If you are a fan of the Terminator films (as I am) then you will simply love this show. Even if you are not a fan it is very enjoyable, although knowing what happens in T2 does help as this follows on from that.
Once you are all seated they ask you to put on your protective glasses (or 3-D glasses to you and me! ) and sit back and enjoy the film. The first part you are really blasted with the sound of a space ship flying over you, this almost rocks the seats you are on they are that loud. Then it is straight into the show itself with the cast making brief appearances on stage and then back onto the film.
One of the main bits most people enjoy is the fact that Arnold himself has acted the 10 minutes of film on screen. This must have been filmed just after T2 and made especially for Universal. This really does make this a must see if you are a fan of the 3 films. There is no where else in the world you can see this 10 minute clip without going to Universal and seeing the show.
Overall I would rate this as one of the best 3-D films out in Orlando, in places it is starting to show its age, however it really does not detract from the fact that the Terminator franchise was massive, just like the ride.
