Surfing Lessons at Typhoon Lagoon

If you’re looking for some thrills and excitement why not try surfing lessons at Typhoon Lagoon?

The lessons take place from 7.30am – 10am, this is before the park is open to the public, the cost of the lessons are $125 per person, guests must be over 8 years old, if you want to stay on in Typhoon Lagoon after your lesson you will need to purchase separate admission, although you will probably be very tired and hungry at the end of the 2 hours! The surfing lessons are limited to a maximum of 14 guests and currently take place on Tuesday and Friday mornings (this is subject to seasonal variation)

Non-surfing members of your group are welcome to accompany you and take photos or shoot video of you from the sides of the lagoon.

Instruction is provided by Craig Carrolls Cocoa Beach surfing school and takes place in the wave pool, which has the Worlds largest wave making machine and can produce waves up to 6ft in height, the pool holds a fantastic 3 million gallons of water! Just in case you’re wondering the water temperature is kept between 70 and 80 degrees at all times.

You need to arrive at Typhoon Lagoon well before the 7.30am start, Disney recommend 45 minutes before – you assemble at the park entrance where your instructors will meet you and escort you to the wave pool.

They then match you up with a suitable sized board and you spend the first part of the lesson practising how to get on the board and paddle and then the tricky bit of ‘popping up’ by now yours arms maybe starting to ache!

Then they crank up the wave machine and you spend the next 90 minutes or so taking turns with the members in your group, ‘trying’ to surf, the instructors give you one on one help to enable even complete beginners to get the maximum enjoyment from the lesson, you also get to try out with both instructors.

By the end of the lesson you will not only realise how fit surfers have to be but also how hungry it makes you! So it’s time to head off to your favourite breakfast restaurant and you’ll probably appreciate a relaxing remainder of your day ;-)

You will need to phone ahead and book this event the phone number is 001 407 939 7529
