Check out super-Target!
It’s surprising what you can buy at Target! Not as big as Wal-Mart, but we prefer it! Look for a Super-Target (check out the one on the 192) which is open until 10.00pm, and has food as well as home-ware, electronics, books, clothes and a music department.
The staff are friendly and helpful, the quality is on the whole excellent and (perhaps most important!) you CAN get in and out in a couple of hours!
If you have teenage daughters it is a must – you know the strappy tops that are £25 or so here in the UK – well at Target they are $10 (plus taxes of course), the latest paperbacks are reduced, as our CDs and DVDs. If you are looking for towels or bedding it offers a wide choice. We bought a comforter set for one of our daughters (then aged 16) and although it caused some amusement at the airport when her luggage was being checked, she is thrilled with it and still uses it! In fact our 2 trawl through the clothing, shoes and handbag sections and it is very rare they don’t find something. We travel very light when going to Florida – and for good reason, as they find plenty to fill up the suitcases.
You really can buy everything clotheswise for a holiday from swimming costumes, dresses, skirts & blouses, tee shirts, shorts, trousers, underwear etc. There is also a large baby department with clothing, baby equipment and of course toys.
If you have young children this is another paradise – loads of toys and at extremely reasonable prices. If you are visiting around Christmas or a birthday it makes sense to stock up here. There are lots of pool toys too, again for $5-15 and we usually stock up whenever we visit.
Electrical equipment is well priced here too – although you may find things cheaper elsewhere IF you have the time (and inclination) to shop around. But we bought a sony digital camera here and found the prices comparable.
Then there is the food – we find this excellent quality and comparable with Publix. If you like bread it is finally somewhere you can get good Italian or French and even Indian breads similar to what we are used to in the UK.
As with all the supermarkets there is a huge fruit and veg area, with lots of nuts, and a lovely deli area with a huge selection of cold meats and cheeses, as well as some pre-cooked food.
You will find plenty of themed items for forthcoming events such as Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day, St Patrick’s Day, Easter etc. So if you are looking for a card, or some themed earrings, mug etc. you can usually find it!
