Strollers at Disney
Although little ones love to run around at Disney many parents know that sooner or later they are likely to need a stroller for those under three years of age.
There are several options for this the most obvious one being to rent one at the Disney Parks and many people do this. When one of our girls was under 3 years old and the other under five we always used to get a double stroller. Children love Disney but even the older ones get worn out and on more than one occasion late at night we had both girls fast asleep in the stroller.
As the girls got older and we only needed one stroller on one of our visits to Disney we bought a stroller from Walmart for $15 and used it throughout our holiday. At the end of the holiday we gave it to a family we met on our last day at Epcot.
In the hot summer months it is a good idea to take a white towel with you to the Parks as you can place this over the canopy of a dark coloured stroller and this will reflect the sun away.
Another idea is to buy a clamp-on type umbrella. These you can get from Walmart and you can bend it to keep your toddler shaded at all times.
For the sudden downpours that can be experienced in Florida a poncho put over the stroller is a great way of keeping the little ones dry and provides more cover than a clamp on umbrella.
Friends of our always take a small bicycle lock to clamp on their stroller to avoid it being taken by mistake although I must admit in all they years we used strollers this never happened to us.
Another good accessory for a stroller is a car organizer the type that normally hangs on the back of the front seat. These organizers can be hung very easily on the back of the stroller giving a great deal of storage space. We got ours from Target but I believe Walmart sell them as well and they are not expensive. In these you can store your rain ponchos, water bottles, snacks etc.
If you are storing food on your stroller be sure to have them secured in a zipped container as the squirrels love to stroller hop whilst you are enjoying the shows!
Do not forget if you hire a stroller at the Parks you will also have space underneath to store quite a large bag/package. However with the scanning system as you enter the Park if it is possible to put your goods in a see through container this will speed up the scanning process.
Finally if you are fed up continually opening then folding up your Park map take a chip(crisp) clip and put it on the handle of the stroller then fix your map to this – it is much less hassle.
