Starbucks - Spoiled for choice!
There can be few of us who have not experienced a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Worldwide they are growing at a huge rate, over 11,000 already, but it is when we are in Florida that we find we visit them the most. With a daughter who is addicted to Starbucks coffee, and who thinks there is nothing to beat their ‘Skinny Lattes’ it is inevitable that we will gravitate to a Starbucks wherever we are in the Sunshine State. In the Orlando area there are dozens to choose from, and you can even find them at such places as ‘Target’ the fantastic clothing, food, and household store, and in most of the shopping Malls.
Of course you don’t have to drink coffee, I prefer tea, and there are plenty to choose from, including black and green teas, and herbal infusions, which all go under the brand name ‘Tazo.’ Some of the herbal infusions are really exotic – Mambo made from hibiscus flowers and tropical fruits, and African Red Bush, which is caffeine free and has a vanilla flavour and hints of rosemary and lemon.
One of our favourite Starbucks has to be the one in Miami International Airport. Situated at the entrance to the food mall in Concourse E, at the entrance to the food mall, it is quite small, and you might even miss it if you do not know it is there. It is not one of the most up-to-date, or the flashiest, but it has large leather sofas and chairs, and we have frequently sat there waiting for our flights, chilling out and watching the world go by. They serve the delicious Key Lime Crumb Cake which is a mouth watering concoction, which is served like a cake but is really like a crumble, with a tangy Key Lime filling. Their cookies are outstanding, too. We normally buy a couple of cakes to take with us on the aeroplane, especially as we loathe the thought of a muffin for breakfast!
Starbucks now sell ice cream, all based on coffee flavours of course, but with the addition of big chocolate chips in their Java Chip ice cream, almond and fudge swirls in their Coffee and Almond Fudge, and chocolate brownies and fudge in their Coffee Fudge Brownie (which has no added sugar), For those who love Oreo-type cookies there is Mud Pie, which has bits of chocolate sandwich cookies mixed in with fudge. Delicious and very naughty. Even if you are watching your weight there is Low Fat Latte, which has a rich creamy taste. My daughter’s favourite has to be Classic coffee, just smooth creamy coffee ice cream, although the Caramel Cappuchino Swirl, which has vanilla bean and coffee ice cream with ribbons of caramel has to come a close second.
There are even new frappucino juice blends, which are based on Tazo green tea blended with fruit such as pomegranates and peaches, and ice. It’s a delicious way to cool down.
