SpectroMagic Parade at Magic Kingdom
Disney are currently running several different parades - there's the Dreams Come True Parade in the afternoon at Magic Kingdom, Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade at Animal Kingdom and the Stars and Motor Cars parade at Hollywood Studios. It is well worth trying to squeeze all of these parades into your time at Disney World, but one parade above all is not to be missed - SpectroMagic at Magic Kingdom.
What is unique about this parade is that it takes place after dark. It does not run every evening, so you would be advised to check the Magic Kingdom schedule on the Disney World website or the timetable leaflets issued weekly by Disney (available at most local tourist shops and information points) to check which days of the week SpectroMagic is running. You do not need to pay anything extra to watch the parade - it is included in the price of admission to the park.
Top Tip: For the best view of main street during the SpectroMagic parade and the Wishes Firework display that follows, try to get a seat at the railway station platform near the main entrance to the park. If you get there early enough (around 90 minutes before the parade starts) you should be able to find yourself a chair on the balcony that gives a great view for the evening.
The lighting around the main street area will be lowered just before the parade starts, so make sure you do not leave it too late before finding your viewing spot.
Cinderella's castle is lit beautifully in the background with alternating glows of blue, green, purple and orange. You will then be treated to a dazzling display like no other. Floats and dancers pass you by, illuminated with literally thousands of different coloured lights (half a million in total! ) in all sorts of shapes and arrangements. Your favourite Disney characters are all there, including of course, Mickey Mouse! Children and adults of all ages will love this glittering display of colour. The parade is accompanied by a suitably catchy Disney song that you will find yourself humming for the rest of the night.
The parade will last for approximately 30 minutes, and subject to weather conditions it is followed shortly afterwards by the "Wishes" firework display, which is well worth hanging around for. Spending an evening at Magic Kingdom to watch the SpectroMagic Parade and fireworks is the perfect way to end your holiday in Orlando and I would recommend that everyone visiting Disney World tries to schedule it in - you'll be missing out on something very special if you don't.
