South of Kissimee - Part 1
Well you have had your days out at the theme parks now you would like to see a little more of what Florida has to offer. A few years ago we decided to do a tour down the east coast of Florida from Kissimee and back up the west coast.
Our first stop was Cocoa beach. Having booked into what i can only say looked like a pink castle for a few days, we were shown to the honeymoon suite (although our honeymoon was many many years ago) which had a very secluded balcony overlooking an outdoor pool and jacuzzi, After a lovely nights sleep we went to the Kennedy Space Centre. Here you have a once in a lifetime chance to experience NASA up close. You will see the launch pads and the powerful rockets and learn all about mans epic journey to the moon. A fantastic day out. Next day was spent on Cocoa beach, at the time we were there it was the Windsurfing competitions so there was plenty of things to watch while soaking up the glorious sunshine.
Our next stop was south on the A1 at a place called Melbourne. A busy town with a beautiful beach. Many years ago they grew pineapple here.
Our journey south next took us to the Everglades National Park where we took a ride on an airboat through the glades seeing a great abundance of wildlife. alligators, turtles and many different species of birds and fish.
You can also take a walk along the various paths and see the creatures up close for those unforgettable photos. While there you can also go and see an alligator show where you will see (a foolish person) playing with the alligators and also have a chance to hold a baby alligator yourself. Every trip you take to the Everglades is different of course because it is all natural.
Next stop Miami, well Miami has it all. Long sandy beaches, hundreds of shops, fabulous restaurants and cafes and a great nightlife to suit all ages, While there try the Bella Roses cryptic cocktails on the south beach some are very spooky. As you drive out of Miami you will see where all the rich and famous have their boats in the marina as well as the cruise liners which call into the port on their various journeys. Well our journey now takes us to the Florida Keys what a beautiful place. Hear all about it in part 2.
