Solar Panel Pool Heating

Solar panel pool heating is a very expensive addition to your villa, ours cost around $6000 but does a very good job indeed, originally we installed it when we first bought the villa as we thought that the villa needed to offer a little bit extra to what we perceived that it offered, in other words, when we viewed in relation to buying the villa, I thought that although the basis of it was good, I would not be happy in offering our villa to guests for the amount that we needed to get per week, as it stood.

The original idea was to install various commodities, one of which was solar panel pool heating and to offer this to the guest free of charge. With the other changes, we now feel that our villa is worth what we ask for it.

After getting approval from our HOA, the solar panel heating took half a day to install, discreetly positioned on the roof at the back of our south facing property, our villa could not be better positioned to catch all day sun from dawn to dusk, and you can really feel that in the heat that emits from the pool water inlets when the solar panel heating is turned on. We often have to turn it off as we have experienced temperatures of around 90 degrees on some days in July and August, in fact, we may have to have a thermostat fitted, that is one that closes a motorised valve off when to hot. But actually getting up early morning and going straight into the pool is a pleasure that I don’t think that we would have experienced without solar panel heating.

The panels are not the same as in the UK where they are relatively small self contained units and may or may not involve some sort of chemical reaction to the heat, they are simply a vehicle for water to run through that are coloured black and so absorb the maximum of heat possible, but are they effective? You bet they are.

If we were doing it again would we fit solar panels? Yes we would, as I said before they are expensive, but unless ripped down by a hurricane, will serve you for years and supply most of your pool heating requirements giving yet another unique selling point to your villa, and free pool heating to your guests.
