Siesta Key Beach on the Gulf of Mexico
Looking for that picture perfect beach. White sand, aqua blue waters
and tropical palapas scattered across the beach side? Well, you are only
two hours away from sitting in the "postcard picture" that
brought you to Florida in the first place. Pack your cooler, beach
chairs and sun tanning lotion and head West to Siesta Key Beach. After
you find, or haggle over a parking spot, your feet will be sifting
through the most fine and white sands imaginable. Cool to the touch and,
well, delicious!
Children always love the beach. A shovel and a bucket for $3.00 are
the best and most economical kind of day care ever. We sat in our
chairs, soaked up the sun, sipped our beer and watched the children
play. Hello, paradise! Did I mention the people watching? Oh honey all
kinds of people. Huge, fake breast in small suits, large buff men in
small trunks and the ever so popular, big people in small suits! There
are also just the average folks like us, watching all the other people.
There is a snack bar with outrageous prices and a shop selling all the
things you forgot for outrageous prices. However, when you need sun
block or forgot snacks, these are terrific resources, even at the
prices. Hey, they have a clean public restroom and someone has to pay
for it.
We had such a great time, and took a drive around the town. The
houses are beautiful and reasonably priced...you could actually live
here! Make this trip a priority; you will leave thinking you've walked
in paradise.
