Short planned Visit to Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom is probably one of the easier Parks to do in half a day with careful planning. This is a great idea if you have children getting tired and therefore bad tempered and if you do the trip in the morning you can spend the rest of the day letting them relax back at your villa in the pool.
This Park like the others is open 365 days opening and closing times vary but you can check these on the internet. Animal Kingdom tends to close earlier than the other parks as the animals like their sleep as dusk approaches. If you have the choice try to visit on a school day to avoid the larger crowds. The weeks around Christmas, New Year and the Fourth of July can be especially busy.
It is best to arrive to at the park' s front gate before the park opens in the morning, leaving yourself time to park and either walk or take a tram from the parking lot to the front gate.
As you enter turn right when you reach the Tree of Life and head into the park' s Asia section and you can start your day with a ride on Expedition Everest, this attraction gets very busy later in the day.
After Everest go back through Asia and into the Africa section of the park there you can have a trip on Kilimanjaro Safari.
You can then head back across the Discovery River into the Camp Minnie-Mickey section of the park and get in line for the next Festival of the Lion King Show, no matter whether you are a young toddler or a grandparent you will just love this show.
After watching Lion King go back past the Tree of Life to Dinoland USA. Now you will need to decide what to do depending on the time of the next Finding Nemo – The Musical. If you have one hour or less before the next performance quickly detour over to Dinosaur to pick up Fastpasses for that ride, then go back and wait for Nemo. If the next Nemo performance is more than one hour away, and the wait is less than 45 minutes for Dinosaur go on Dinosaur now.
If you see Nemo first, now use your Fastpass to ride on Dinosaur. If you rode Dinosaur then now is time to go to Finding Nemo.
You now have a choice of where to lunch before heading back to your villa. You can eat at the Park, Downtown Disney or as we often do go to one of the restaurants on the 192 offering “all you can eat lunches”. The latter are usually very reasonable and allow us to relax by the pool for the rest of the afternoon eat in in the evening and even have an early night ready for our next Disney day.
