Shops and Restaurants at Concourse D at Miami International Airport
Miami International Airport is a huge building, with three main terminals which blend into one another in a crescent shape. It has a wide range of eateries and shops, some of which are available before Security, whilst many are near the gates.
Concourse D in the North Terminal at Miami International Airport, which has 60 gates, has recently witnessed the of the first stage of the opening, or re-opening, of some 30 restaurants and stores. This is welcome news to passengers embarking on flights, as it will considerably improve the facilities available.
The Icebox Cafe near Gate 8 is a quick service deli and bakery, which serves cakes, desserts and meals including breakfast, dinner and lunch. Since 1998 this company has operated a very popular full service restaurant and bakery on South Beach in its Art Deco South Beach style cafe. This restaurant has been famed for its healthy options and fresh food at affordable prices, so it is a welcome addition to those travellers who need a snack or a meal. You can even purchase one of their famous cakes and have it shipped home. Oprah Winfrey featured the South Beach restaurant in her ‘Best Cakes in America’ show. It has also found recognition by the Food and Wine Magazine and by the New York Times, so it is definitely a place to visit if you are feeling a bit hungry. Customers can be assured of quality customer service.
Amongst the restaurants opening soon is the Islander Bar and Grill, Island Chicken Grill, Wendy’s Juan Valdez Cafe, Starbucks, TGI Fridays and Mojito Bar/Lorena Garcia. Of course, favourites like Cafe Versailles, Manchu Wok, Villa Pizza, Dunkin Donuts, Nathan’s Hot Dogs, Sushi Maki, Tradewinds Bar. Au Bon Pain, Boca Bons, Coffee Beanery, Corona Beachhouse and La Carreta Restaurant, are still open for business, so there is plenty to choose from.
Several shops will also be opening, such as Ocean Drive News, Coach, Thomas Pink, Bookmark Stores, Giggles, Its Sugar, Essentials, UPS Store, Solstice, Etcetera, Peace-Love-miami and Emporio Armani.
In addition to these outlets you can also find Bijoux Terner, Sunglass Hutt, Starfire Designs, Indulgences, Johnson and Murphy, Books and Books and Duty Free. Bijoux Terner is ever popular with its huge range of handbags, evening bags, jewellery sets, watches and scarves at the incredibly low price of just $10. Its range of pashminas in all colours of the rainbow are certainly worth looking at.
So if you should find yourself waiting for a flight from Concourse D then you can be sure of a variety of eating and shopping opportunities.
