Shopping "Outdoors".
If someone had told me 3 years ago, that one of my "musts" for visiting when I went to the Orlando area , would be , Outdoor World , I would never have believed them!! But, I have to confess, we went twice on our last trip!! The first time we called in there was because we were walking round Festival Bay shopping Mall, which has an entrance to Outdoor World, and we just wondered in to see what it was all about!!
We were amazed at what was on sale to be honest, and the sheer size of the complex was amazing!! Primarily, the place seemed to have camping and fishing equipment, and you would have thought we would have been out like a shot, but "NO", my family just marvelled at the things on offer! We have certainly never seen anything like it here in the UK, and the various things on offered varied from Archery equipment (YES they even have an indoor archery range for you to try before you buy!!), to ALL manner of fishing equipment, there was a boat display, a marine section with all kinds of watersports accessories, including , our reason for returning, swimming goggles!! My daughter loves the goggles we found here, and we stock up now, as they are excellent value, and we have struggled to buy the make she prefers here in the UK!!
The many golfers that vist the Orlando area may also find that the vast golfing section that they have could well be of use to them too!!
My husband found some casual shoes he adores at a price he loves too in the footwear section, which houses more traditonal outdoor shoes, for hunting and other rugged activities!! Needless to say the hugely comprehensive clothing section is a MUST if you are into outdoor pursuits. I cannot believe that you wouldn't find just about anything and everything you could possibly need in this department!!
I suppose on our very first visit, we were slightly taken back by the fact that they had a firearms section too, complete with ranges for testing the equipment. But as my husband reminded me, the law is very different in the US, and so is the pursuit of hunting too. There is a shootong arcade there too, for those just wanting to shoot as if at a fairground too!!
Overall, it makes for some very different browsing or buying than shopping for trainers or jeans, but it is a shop that odten sees us popping by these days! Who would have thought it? Not me!!
